Recent Examples

Here are a few recent examples of requests for user information that we received from government sources. We did not provide information in response to any of these requests.

Germany 

  • Law enforcement requested information about a site owner who posted links to third party sites where visitors could find video and audio files “with German subtitles related to the radical-islamic organisation ISLAMIC STATE (IS).”

India 

  • Law enforcement requested user information relating to allegedly false and defamatory information.

United Kingdom 

  • Law enforcement requested information about a user who posted information about a child abuse case, which allegedly contravened a restriction order.

United States 

  • Law enforcement sent an email to request information about a user who “created a website, posted a picture of our complainant (not her but looks similar) and has circulated it to her friends.”
